December 6-10

Happy Holidays to all!
Here is what you can expect this week.
Math: Topic 9 is about dividing fractions.
Social Studies: We are studying Greek architecture, philosophers and Alexander the Great. ABC of geography is I and due on Friday.
Reading: Students are reading fiction about Greek mythology. They need to be done with the novels by Winter Break.
Writing: We wrote persuasive letters to the man in the big red suit. They are hanging up in our classroom and are quite convincing.
Spelling: Homographs and homophones are confusing. The take home task this week involves you. The students have a list of commonly mistaken homophones/graphs. They need you to make up sentences with these words. Students will spell the correct homophone/graph.
Science: Students are back in my room for science. We started learning about the moon and why we see different phases each night. There is a vocabulary list to study. Students have a test next Monday on the moon words.
Olive the Other Reindeer: We are performing a reader's theater for the first grade next week. We need help with some simple props. If you have any of the following and are willing to share, please send in with your child as soon as possible.
Santa Hats and/or Reindeer Antlers
Gum Drops (donation 3-4 bags)
Stuffed Animal Dog, small
Thanks and have a great week!
